Creative opportunities are offered across all subjects to expand and enhance creativity, and students have options to choose their approach to this, whether it be front facing production work in the school play and music concerts, or on a less public level, such as film club, or creative writing at the Newspaper club. Older pupils play an ambassadorial role as subject prefects, or in the delivery of topics to younger children, for example conducting the whole school and community choir in the Christmas Carol Service.
Creative innovative learning is encouraged across the curriculum. Events such as crime solving through maths, volcano building, eco awareness workshops and Pi day ensure creative strands run across all subjects.
Creative activities within different environments encourage practical engagement from all pupils, whether it be in outdoor classroom, through visits to our local nursing home, singing with 8000 children at The O2 Arena or conducting sculptural workshops with specialist artists. All of the above enrich our students’ cultural capital, and this is then brought back into the classroom to facilitate a deeper and richer learning experience.
We offer scholarship opportunities in Drama, Music and Visual Arts and has recently expanded to provide opportunities across the creative disciplines for our more gifted pupils.
